PETRICHOR

11:09am. Bad coffee and a long list of things to do at work today. All I can really think about is getting into bed and dreaming the day away.

Recent thoughts have been around... life? What happens next in my story?

MEH

Current mood:
Because my sister just left to head back to Boston. Even though she shoved and kicked me in her sleep, I'll still miss her. 11 more months till she comes back!

So the Emix production item results were released yesterday. I'm not sure whether to be excited that I got placed in pretty awesome items or worried about my schedule for the next 5 weeks... which looks little something like this:

Yellow for Caderas, blue for Emix.
Not really sure why I get myself into these kind of situations. I know it'll be insanely tiring but I just can't get myself to pull out of any items. I just hope the next few weeks of intense training schedules and lack of sleep all pays off.

Peace.

2015

2014 wasn't the best year; in fact, I'd say it was kind of a bust. Here are a couple of things changed:
  1. My employment status. Like Britney said, you gotta work, bitch.
  2. My relationship status. And with that, a little bit of my ability to trust.
  3. My phone. Hi, Samsung.
Anyway, I was more than happy to welcome 2015 and what better way to spend it than counting down with one of the best people in my life:

Sister #2

Can't you just feel the excitement?
Nah, it was a really chill count down. For once I didn't feel like going out partying... I guess I really am getting old.

Here's the DL on what's been going on for the past couple weeks:

Took a stroll (two, actually) around Gardens by the Bay when it was all lit up with Christmas lights. It was made even better with two amazing groups of people.

It's tradition in the Wong household to dress our dogs up during festive seasons :)

They also tend to get pretty cuddly.

On the second day of the new year my sister, my dad and I spent the day being tourists at the River Safari (thanks to office closure). Look at all 'em fishays!

Can't go to the River Safari and not try some Panda-looking food.

The most adorable little bird built its nest in our balcony the other day! Every morning it flies off with another red-feathered bird (ok fine, I only saw that happen once) and comes back in the evening or when the clouds get dark. Adorbs innit?!

So we're about a week into the new year and one very drastic thing has changed: my hair.

Yes I have dip-dyed hair now, though I don't completely love it 'cause it kind of makes me look like an ah-lian. Oh well, new year new me.

Okay, enough for now.

FOOD

5th October: Choupinette

Gave my parents a brunch treat at Choupinette along Bukit Timah Road. Had the salmon with poached eggs which turned out to be surprisingly filling despite its tiny size. Took a little while to get seated though. When we got there there was a bit of a line, so we joined it... only to realise like 25 minutes later that we were supposed to write our names in a book inside so that they'll call our names to be seated. So only then did we jot our names down and ended up at the bottom of the list (even though the waiters knew we were there for ages. As did the people behind us, who ended up getting seated before us) so our waiting time totalled about 40 mins.
Yes it was our fault that we didn't write our names down, but 1) who would know to do so unless they've been there before, 2) as a waiter, wouldn't you recognize if a customer has been waiting for a table for eons while people waiting for 10 mins are getting seated before him/her?
Anyway, I was a little annoyed but I didn't want to make a fuss, especially since I don't go out for brunch with the 'rents often. At the end of the day, food was good.

6th October: Café Hopping with the 'Mixers

Stop #1: Strictly Pancakes. Look at the hearty stack of red velvet pancakes! This was good. Then again I'm no foodie so I'm not exactly picky about what I eat. Everything is good to me. The coffee too.

Stop #2 (not pictured): Llao Llao. Froyo. Froyo with a long-ass queue.

Step #3 (not pictured): Kith's Café. Tea and truffle fries. Nom.

Stop #4: Tiong Bahru Bakery @ Raffles City. At this point I'm pretty stuffed but hey, it's a food fest. Topped the day off with more coffee and a somewhat light pastry.

So there was actually one more stop in the morning (stop #0): Adam Road Food Center. Indian food and lime juice with an old friend.

11th October: St. Regis

I asked my parents if they wanted to go to Kith's Café for brunch. So naturally, we ended up at the St. Regis. Yup, it was probably the most atas brunch I've ever had. We went for dim sum buffet and stuffed our gut, pretty much. There's no denying that the food was spectacular.

12th October: Pre-SUAD

Nommed at Everything with Fries before heading to SUAD. We were at the Holland Village branch, which turned out to be a little pricier than the one at 313. Although I have to admit that the ambience is a little nicer. Oo yes, the fries are good. So was the har cheong tai (sp?) burger (not pictured) and that orgasmic mud pie.

13th October: Hillview

Headed to the new mall at Hillview (I don't really know what it's called) to this amazing Italian restaurant! Beat the Monday blues with awesome food. Seriously. Everything was awesome and so authentic. Pictured above: tiramisu in a jar.

20th October: Menya Musashi

Ramen for dinner with the family. I had this black-soupped ramen which is actually garlic based. Garlic. Lucky I went home after this.
Food was alright. Not the best I've had to be honest, but not to shabby.

DIWALI

So glad for this mid-week break; it just makes the working week seem so much shorter.
And what better way to spend the public holiday than with my batch mates over a slumber party! Spent the whole night watching movies and just chillin', which was nice. Ok I actually only made it through two and a half movies before I feel asleep. Granted, we only started the movies at 11pm so technically I lasted till about 4am. Go me.

Came home around 3pm this afternoon and just slacked the whole day away. Felt kind of lonely 'cuz my parents were out for family lunch and I didn't really have anyone to talk to. Oh well. The single life is rather unexciting.

I shall spend the rest of the night slumped in front of the TV watching I Love Lucy.
