It was a pretty sad moment leaving Bordeaux, but here are some final pictures I snapped during the last couple of days.
(Quinconces. The only time I've ever seen it empty)
(The view of the Garonne river from Place des Quinconces)
Such a gorgeous photo right? And no Instagram filter either I might add! This was when Jo and I were on our way to the Sunday market for the last time.
And now for the snapshots of my oh-so-empty room right before I left to check out of Teneo.
I still remember the first time walking into this apartment. Saunders and I were so upset because there were no doors separating our rooms, and, if you can't tell, my "room" is actually situated in the common area. Saunders and I managed to put up curtains in the end, to have a little bit of privacy for ourselves; though we got pretty comfortable with each other and he never actually put his up, and I only put mine up when I slept.
Left all our IKEA furnishing in that apartment. All €200 worth.
So long, my dear apartment.
Took this shot when I got up the airport shuttle from the train station. Oh, and let me tell you it wasn't too easy lugging 2 suitcases and a duffle all the way to the station. That's a little over 45kg that I was dragging around... just a little bit less than what I weigh!
Anyway, I got to the station early with Jo because her train was around 3:30pm-ish. My flight was only at 7pm, so I waited at the station for about an hour before deciding to board the shuttle. Got to the airport around 5pm, waited for about an hour and a half before checking in.
So when I got to the Ryanair counter, I loaded the first of my suitcases onto the scale. The maximum weight for that one was 15kg. My bag was 16kg.
"C'est bon"
I mentally sighed in relief as I lifted the lighter of my suitcases off the scale. Ok, the next one was sure to be overweight. The maximum for that was 20kg and when I weighed it at home it was already 23kg.
I lifted it onto the scale. 24.5kg. Damn it.
I was ready to reach into my bag to grab my wallet and pay for the extra 4.5kg.
"The baggage drop-off is just behind that white wall", he said.
I stared at him for a split second, a little in shock.
When I came out of it, I gave him a big smile, said "merci beaucoup!", grabbed my things and rushed off before he could change his mind.
I was so lucky.
I guess it was partially because the flight was only about half full, but I was so grateful to Ryanair that night.
So this was my last official shot moments before I left Bordeaux.
Au revoir, Bordeaux. It was fun!
